- "Oscar" --
Male, Nordic breed mix, mostly white with some black, three to four years old. Oscar is not much bigger than a Beagle. He ordinarily has a long,
thick coat; but he was shaved recently because of matting. Neutered. Oscar
has mild hip dysplasia, but his foster Mom reports that it doesn't stop
him at all -- the vet said he doesn't need surgery, and he is not on
medication for it. Desperately in need of even just a foster home, as the one he's been in for 10 months has had a family emergency. He was part of a number of dogs taken in by this rescue group from an Innu community of Natueshiesh, Labrador. Oscar needs a
dog-free, dog-experienced foster home immediately. However, Oscar was born
in the Innu community, and lived outside roaming free there for two or
three years. That experience has left him being territorial around
other dogs (except for puppies; his foster home has two puppies, and
he's fine with them). Also, he'd be positively miserable in a kennel,
having to be caged so much. Oscar's prey drive is very strong, so small companion dogs, rabbits, and cats are out. He needs a large property to safely spend time outside (it would have to be fenced, as he can be an
escape artist at times). Oscar
takes awhile to warm up to certain people. When he does, he's fabulous
with them. He's great with the foster Mum's young daughter and her
friends. He
loves his people, and absolutely adores a good belly rub. Oscar is a very mellow fellow, and enjoys
lazing around at your feet. For more information, contact Stephanie Olsen, www.heavenlycreatures.ca, (709) 739-0077, heavenlycreatures@nl.rogers.com
